Booty Boycott: Iggy Azalea calls for female artists to skip 2019 Grammys after president’s “step up” comments

Iggy Azalea is fully prepared to keep her “natural” cheeks wrapped in sweatpants and planted on her couch instead of attending next year’s Grammy Awards, and suggests her fellow female performers follow suit.

In response to digital grumbles sparked by the staggering lack of women winners during Sunday evening’s acknowledgment of musical excellence, Recording Academy President, Neil Portnow, advised lady artists need to “step up” their work if they wish to bring honor to their gender.

A disgruntled Iggy—who’s long-awaited sophomore album, Digital Distortion, suffered a delayed release for years—hopped on Twitter, airing out her grievances with the Grammys’ honcho, and suggesting a baddie boycott might be in order.

“Neil Portnow really has me heated with his ‘women need to step up’ Grammy-Boys-Club bulls***,” the 27-year-old Australian spitter spat.

After a fan said she and the other snubbed girls clap back at homie with a diss track, Iggy retorted with, “Or instead of being gracious and wearing white flowers on the carpet (bringing in the viewers for his telecast in designer gowns) women should consider if we NEED to take firmer action and stay at home in PJs next year … see how that works out for Neil.”

Skipping the show this year, the “Go Hard or Go Home” only attended Jay-Z’s Roc Nation pre-Grammy brunch in New York, before flying back to Los Angeles prior to the ceremony.

Iggy’s sentiments about Neil’s “step up” shade were echoed by nine-time Grammy winner Sheryl Crow, singer Charli XCX, and rocket P!nk.
