Bye Bye Biggie: Notorious B.I.G.’s “King Of NY” mural to be destroyed by building landlord

Brooklyn’s legendary “King Of NY” mural honoring late lyrical lord, Biggie Smalls,   will soon be nothing more than a faded memory thanks to the money-hungry head-azz-ness of a landlord who’s believed to be more concerned with raking in extra coin than remembering an extraordinary crooner..

On the heels of what would have been the fallen Ready To Die mastermind’s 45th birthday (May 21), building owner, Samuel Berkowitz, is preparing to demolish the artistic landmark crafted in 2015 by Naoufal “Rocko” Alaoui and Scott “Zimer” Zimmerman– which creatively decorates the side of a two-story apartment building on Bedford Avenue and Quincy on Bed-Stuy.
As a part of the movement to gentrify and reshape the borough once dominated by B.I.G. and his crack-slinging cohorts, Samuel has decided to remove the Notorious One’s mural in order to add more windows to his property, thus increasing the its value, according to reports.

When his reasons for erasing the awe-inspiring rap attraction were brought into question, the unbothered landlord clapped at DNAInfo with, “Why should I keep it? I don’t even see the point of the discussion. I could demolish the building if I wanted to, I don’t need no permission from anyone except the DOB.”

A man presumably focused on growing his own personal green, Samuel reportedly propositioned Spread Art NYC, an art collective attempting to reserve the “Warning” rhymer’s shrine, with a deal to keep the mural in exchange for $1,250 a month; However, despite community support, homie’s astronomical fee is said to be too costly for the art-lovers to maintain.
A circulating petition fighting to label the building a historical landmark coupled with the unmuffled screams of social media soldiers who’ved voiced their disdain for the landlord’s nutty decision could possibly change the mural’s unfortunate fate…
But as it stand, our digital timelines will soon be be flooded with #RIP to the #KingOfNY posts all crazy…
