Chance The Rapper slapped with copyright infringement lawsuit

COPYRIGHT WRONGS…

Despite all the blessings in his lap, it appears a messy copyright infringement lawsuit is currently cursing Chance The Rapper.

On Tuesday, New-York based jazz musician Abdul Wali Muhammad—formerly known as Eric P. Saunders—filed legal documents against the 24-year-old Chicagoan for allegedly sampling a portion of his Lonnie Liston Smith’s song “Bridge Through Time“—which Muhammad filed a separate copyright claim for in 1979, a year before it was released—for track “Windows” featured on his 2012 10 Day mixtape.

Per Muhammad’s suit, obtained by Billboard, ol boy claims he reached out to Chano’s management team when he became aware of “Windows” in April 2017, and says he never gave the Grammy Award winner permission to use the music.

He’s seeking damages for the alleged infringement and is also requesting a judge block the “No Problem” spitter’s attempts to sell the track..

Chance The Rapper has yet to publicly comment on the lawsuit…
