The 44-year-old vocalist, best known for contributing his talents to Scarface and TuPac’s 1997 smash collab, “Smile,” as well as Do or Die and Twista’s hit “Po Pimp,” passed away after being in a coma for several weeks, according to Fake Shore Drive.
Throughout the 90s, the late singer released his debut album, The Next, via Rap-A-Lot Records and reportedly spent most of his career touring with major musical heavyweights such as Whitney Houston, Michael Bolton, and The Jacksons.
In light of his untimely demise, Johnny’s fans–including Hip-Hop honcho and fellow Chi-Town representative, Lupe Fiasco– have taken to Twitter with their condolences.
