Christina Aguilera To honor Whitney Houston w/ The Bodyguard tribute at AMAs

Dirty” pop vocalist, Christina Aguilera, will grace music enthusiasts with a melodic tribute to Whitney Houston in honor of the 25th anniversary of the late chanteuse’s slayage in cinematic classic, The Bodyguard, at the 2017 American Music Awards… And Twitter’s feelings about Xtina’s being chosen to salute its fallen fave are all over the place…

Today, the 36-year-old multi-platinum selling “Genie In A Bottle” boomer feverishly sprang to social media announcing her upcoming performance dedicated to the 22-time AMA award winner saying, “I am excited, honored and humbled to perform a tribute to one of my idols, Whitney Houston for the 25th anniversary of “The Bodyguard” at the @AMAs.”

Christina–who Whitney acknowledged for singing the best version of “Run To You” at the 2001 BET Awards–will reportedly belt out a medley of the deceased diva’s songs featured on the film’s official soundtrack, released in November 1992.

“It is with great appreciation and honor that [Christina Aguilera] is returning to participate on the American Music Awards for a special tribute honoring the 25th anniversary of The Bodyguard,” Whitney Houston’s estate served in a statement. “Whitney said that Christina is without a doubt one of the best voices she enjoyed in this generation of music.”

And while Whit’s estate is totally on board with Christina paying homage to the legend, Twitter is 50/50 in its excitement about the “I Turn To You” songstress being granted the honors, especially when devout Whitney lover, Brandy Norwood, is still alive and well (and not doing sh** else)…
