Como La YAAAAS: Selena Quintanilla inspired family drama coming to ABC

Anything for Selenas

And that includes an upcoming ABC family television series inspired by the late queen of tejano music’s life.

Selena Quintanilla Perez’s legacy will continue to live on through a forthcoming music-driven drama centered around the joys and complexities of being raised in a Latino family.

In collaboration with Campanario Entertainment and SB Projects, ABC Studios has green-lighted a pilot, not only derived from the fallen “Biddi Biddi Bom Bom” songstress’ story, but also supported by her family.

“We are excited to come on board as producers on an ABC music driven, Latino family drama that celebrates Selena’s musical legacy with a lead character whose music and career is inspired by Selena,” the singer’s sister, Suzette Quintanilla Arriaga, said in a statement.

Though the soon to drop show remains temporarily untitled, it will follow the story of fictional character Alex Guerra: a chart-topping, award-winning pop star who’s been estranged from her family for years, according to Billboard. Forced to return back home in Texas, Alex is tasked with juggling a love triangle and demanding career, while trying to reconcile with her family, whose deepest, darkest secrets are coming to light.

Selena’s siblings, Suzette and Abraham Quintanilla Jr., have reportedly signed on to join the project as co-producers.

So far, no word on when the show is scheduled to premiere…
