Cut The Check: Tupac photographer suing Macy’s and Urban Outfitters over Pac T-shirt

Late lyrical luminary, TuPac Shakur, has more recently been looped into more legal proceedings than an incarcerated deadbeat dad of 7.

One the heels of being caught up in a Kardashian-Jenner copyright infringement case, the name of Hip-Hop’s Makaveli is at the center of yet another courtroom battle as photographer, Chi Modu, is suing department store giant, Macy’s, and high-end hipster shop, Urban Outfitters, for selling a T-Shirt featuring a picture he took of Pac.

Per the claims in his lawsuit, obtained by TMZ, the portrait slayer claims a merchandising company used his snapshot of the fallen “California Love” creator, sans permission, to produce a bunch of apparel.

Chi alleges the company then sold the shirts to Urban Outfitters and Macy’s, which sold them to the public … also without his consent.

Though the photographer reportedly admits to brokering a deal with the merchandising company—allowing the org to use his Pac pic—he claims their contract expired in July 2016… noting that the gear in question hit the market after their deal ended.

Chi is gunning for all the stores’ profits from the Shakur shirts, along with damages.

So far, neither Urban nor Macy’s have publicly commented on the suit.
