Dame Dash spills on Aaliyah’s death [VIDEO]

Though “My son has cookies,” is now emblazoned onto Dame Dash’s reputation as a symbol of his hilariously arrogant interview persona, the Roc-A-Fella Records CEO adopted a less inflated attitude when he joined the cast of The Real to discuss the loss his of his fiancé late R&B goddess, Aaliyah.

On August 25, 2001 the the 22-year-old crooner and seven others boarded a tiny aircraft called the Cessna 402B in preparation to return home from the Bahamas after shooting the “Rock The Boat,” music video. Moments after the flight took off, the plane crashed killing the superstar vocalist, her fellow passengers, and the pilot.

Despite the fact that she’s been gone for well over a decade, Dame maintains that the loss of her powerful presence and beautiful soul continues to haunt him.

While choppin it up with The Real hosts, the 44-year-old native New Yorker spilled tea on how her demise completely changed his life forever and how he feels he could have prevented her from boarding the plane that ultimately took her life.

“There is no chance that, if I was there, we would have been on that plane, so it would have never happened that way,” Dame said when asked if he too could have been killed in the plane crash.

Dame went on to add that Aaliyah expressed concern about boarding the Cessna 402B but felt she had no choice but to take the flight due to her work requirements.

“If I was there, I would have made sure that that jet that was supposed to be for her  – the G-IV – she would have been on that. I wouldn’t have got on that plane, so it probably would have been different,” the rap honcho added.

Wrapping up talks about his late lover, “Family Therapy” reality show star said “Everything happens for a reason and what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. You gotta deal with the cads that life deals you.”
