Dassss it: Matt Lauer fired from NBC News for sexual misconduct; Twitter praise dances

Today morning show host, Matt Lauer, has been fired from NBC News after a colleagues accused him of “inappropriate sexual behavior.”

“Matt Lauer has been terminated from NBC News,” a tweet from the “Today” show read. “On Monday night, we received a detailed complaint from a colleague about inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace by Matt Lauer. As a result, we’ve decided to terminate his employment.”

A veteran staple of NBC, the 59-year-old journalist—who enjoyed a $25 million-a-year salary—was said to have assaulted a female co-worker during the 2016 Olympics in Rio, according to reports.

On Wednesday, hosts Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb made the announcement on Today, with a teary-eyed and “devastated” Savannah deeming it “a sad morning.”

“We received a detailed complaint from a colleague about inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace by Matt Lauer,” Savannah said, reading a memo from NBC News Chairman Andy Lack. “It represented, after serious review, a clear violation of our company’s standards. As a result, we’ve decided to terminate his employment.”

The memo continued, “While it is the first complaint about his behavior in the over 20 years he’s been at NBC News, we were also presented with reason to believe this may not have been an isolated incident.”

WELL…..

Twitter is currently bursting at the seams with reactions to Matt’s being fired.

While a number of thumb talkers are rejoicing over the fact an alleged predator is no longer on TV, others are celebrating his termination on behalf of ex-Today co-host, Ann Curry—-who many believe Matt selfishly had a hand in getting fired back in 2012—and the more recently booted host, Tamron Hall.

PEEP…
