Rev. Jesse Jackson & director John Singleton accused of sexually harassing journalist

Civil rights leader, Reverend Jesse Jackson, as well as famed movie executive, John Singleton, are being accused of sexually harassing a female journalist with inappropriate comments and unwanted physical contact.

Danielle Young, writing for The Root, is coming forward with claims the 76-year-old social justice activist and Hollywood’s celebrated Poetic Justice director both “turned a professional environment into a playground of flirting, grabbing and sexual talk,” on two separate occasions.

After listening to Rev. Jackson deliver a keynote speech about the responsibilities of black journalists–at her former place of employment several years ago–Danielle says she anxiously waited in line to take a photo with the man who “marched alongside Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.”

“I walked toward Jackson, smiling, and he smiled back at me,” she explained. “His eyes scanned my entire body. All of a sudden, I felt naked in my sweater and jeans. As I walked within arm’s reach of him, Jackson reached out a hand and grabbed my thigh, saying, ‘I like all of that right there!’ and gave my thigh a tight squeeze.”

Shocked by Jesse’s unabashed cheekiness, instead of reacting in anger, Danielle–who noted that black women are generally taught to “be A-OK with a touch here, a squeeze there, a dirty look, or even an unwanted grab”–claims she giggled uncomfortably as he “pulled me closer,” while her co-worker took photos of them.

She described herself as feeling “deflated” after the ordeal, and revealed that she later discussed the assault with a co-worker who witnessed Jesse’s alleged impudence.

“’I remember him being inappropriate with all the women,’” Danielle recalled her former associate saying. “’And I also remember you telling me that he did something more with you. And then we brushed the s**t off and chalked it up to him just being a dirty old man.’”
Expressing guilt for keeping the history maker’s brazenness a secret for so long, Danielle says her “silence gave Jackson permission to continue grabbing at the next pair of thick thighs he liked.”

She hopes sharing her story will prevent the public figure from attacking other women in the future.

Upon coming forward with her version of events, Danielle claims she received a statement on behalf of Jesse reading, “Although Rev. Jackson does not recall the meeting three years ago, he profoundly and sincerely regrets any pain Ms. Young may have experienced.”

Sis too goes on to charge John Singleton with being overly handsy and presumptuous during their more recent meet and greet, when she attended the American Black Film Festival to interview the Academy Award winning director and the cast of his show, Snowfall.

Danielle accuses the 49-year-old cinematic mastermind behind Hip-Hop classics such as Boyz N Da HoodFour Brothers and Baby Boy of pulling her full-figured body near his, and demanding she “bring that juiciness over here.”

Homegirl claims she lost her balance when John pulled her towards him, causing her to catch her fall by grabbing hold onto his thighs.

While regaining her footing, Danielle says the movie mogul kissed her on the cheek and clutched her around the waist as he whispered, “Oooh, I’m gonna grab on tight to you.”

She agreed to take a picture with him so as not to “make it awkward,” then later corroborated her account of the incident with a colleague who informed her of John’s lusty affinity for “big girls”…and claimed to have also experienced some inappropriateness via the big-screen honcho.

So far, the highly regarded filmmaker has yet to respond to Danielle’s accusations.

Her harassment claims are the first to be made against both Rev. Jesse Jackson and John Singleton amidst the series of sexual assault allegations being levied against high-rollers such as Harvey Weinstein, Bill O’Reilly, President Trump, James Toback, Kevin Spacey, Dustin Hoffman, Ed Westwick, Brett Ratner, Terry Richardson, Bill Cosby and others.
