DMX pleads not guilty to tax evasion; claims charges bring him closer to God [VIDEO]

X MARKS THE SPOT…

Though he’s no role model, DMX claims his most recent run-in with the law is bringing him closer to the big guy upstairs.

On the heels of spending the night in jail, subsequently posting a $500,000 bail just 24 hours after being legally smacked with 14 counts of tax evasion on Thursday, and pleading not guilty to the charges, the 46-year-old “How’s It Going Down” rhymer passionately professed his commitment to the “truth” and his spiritual maturity.

“One thing you can count on me for is the truth,” X barked during his on-stage address to the attendees of the Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival, on Saturday.

“If there’s one thing true, I’m not who you wanna be, but who you should listen to,” he added. “I ain’t not mother f****ing role model. I’m not a role model, but you can count on me for the truth. I put my life on that.”
