Doing Better: DMX reportedly “responding well” to rehab; has gained 40 lbs

Hip-Hop’s highly-revered, albeit embattled dog, DMX, is “back to being human again,” after spending several weeks in an in-patient substance abuse rehabilitation facility, according to the “Lose My Mind” rapper’s legal team.

The Ruff Ryders’ 46-year-old growling front man is said to be on the mend and gaining some much needed weight during his court-approved stay at a New England rehab center—to which, in August, he voluntarily enlisted after repeatedly testing positive for cocaine and marijuana while out on bail for 14 counts of tax fraud.

X’s lawyer, Murray Richman, updated TMZ of the Yonkers native’s improving health saying, “he had been nothing but skin and bones before starting treatment,” and has now packed on an easy 40 pounds.

Though the “Where The Hood At” spitting father of 15 has nearly completed the rehab program, his advisors reportedly want him to stay an extra 30 days, since he’s been responding so well to treatment.

While it’s unclear whether or not DMX has been able to spend quality time with his super-sized brood during his recovery process, the Cradle 2 The Grave star has been granted permission to take day trips with a friend to a nearby town.

As for his $1.7 million tax evasion case, DMX’s attorneys say they’ll tackle the courtroom issue once the It’s Dark and Hell Is Hot creator has successfully finished treatment.

And if he doesn’t get locked up…who knows, there may even be more music and a tour in sober X’s future.
