Farewell Friend: East Coast rap heavy-weights expected to attend Prodigy’s funeral

R.I.P. P….

Late Queens crooner, Prodigy, will be laid to rest with a star-studded funeral service fit for a Hip-Hop king.

On Thursday, East Coast rap juggernauts, along with enthusiasts of the genre, will bid the 42-year-old “Got It Twisted” emcee their final goodbyes… As his family has reportedly invited music’s most lit luminaries to attend a New York based celebration of P’s life just days after he unexpectedly passed away while grappling with complications surrounding his sickle cell anemia, in a Las Vegas hospital, on June 20.

Information plugs with ties to the deceased Mobb Deep rhymer tell TMZ that lyrical legends such as Nas, Lil Kim, Big Daddy Kane, Ice-T, Naughty By Nature, Onyx…and of course, Prodigy’s career-long partner in crime, Havoc, are all expected to attend his private home-going ceremony, this afternoon, at NYC’s Frank E. Campbell “Funeral Chapel.”

A public viewing service for die-hard fans of the “Quiet Storm” spitter will be held at the same location from 2 to 5 PM.
On Sunday, Havoc and Lil Kim paid brief tribute to their lost brother during the 2017 BET Awards.

However, No Limit rapper, Master P, openly slammed the cable network’s annual acknowledgement of black celebrity excellence for failing to shower Prodigy with his well-earned “flowers” prior to his untimely demise…

The Truth Hurts…BET Would Have Never Changed Their Show For Prodigy If He Was Still Alive!! It was a great thing acknowledging and celebrating the life of Prodigy and all of his accomplishments. But It’s a shame that none of these artists are told how great they are while they’re alive. Why can’t they get their flowers and tokens of appreciation while they’re still living? I know the truth hurts. I just have one serious question… Was Prodigy or Mobb Deep on BET’s radar last week… were they invited to the red carpet event, offered guest passes or an invite to perform at the awards show in the last 10 years? I’m willing to bet the answer is NO. I came to support my daughter today on the BET Experience stage but I decided that my family and I will not participate in the red carpet or awards events this year. I love my people and I support them but we really need to do better by each other. We lost a very talented brother, Prodigy. I send my condolences to his family. Hopefully, one day we can start appreciating the talented sisters and brothers while they are still alive. I know that what I am saying may ruffle a few feathers but the truth needed to be heard.

No word on whether or not the “Make Em Say” emcee will join his fellow culture influencers in sending P off in style, today…

But either way, it’s a blessing the passed wordsmith will now finally recieve all the flowers he deserves…
