Flag On The Play: Aaron Hernandez fiancé sues NFL and Patriots over hidden C.T.E. diagnosis

Aaron Hernandez’s fiancé is dragggggging his former football team, the New England Patriots, and the NFL to court for keeping the late professional athlete in the dark about his neurodegenerative disease diagnosis…

Shayanna Jenkins-Hernandez is seeking justice on behalf of herself, as well as her and Aaron’s four-year-old daughter, Avielle Hernandez, via newly filed legal documents in which she blames the NFL and the Patriots for failing to warn the 27-year-old tight end-turned-convicted murderer about his advanced case of C.T.E.— a brain disease linked to suicidal impulses, usually found in people who’ve sustained multiple head injuries—prior to his jailhouse suicide.

In her suit, obtained by TMZ,

Shayanna says, “Aaron had stage 3 CTE usually seen in players with a median age of death of 67 years.”

Sis goes on to allege the NFL and the Patriots “were fully aware of the damage that could be inflicted from repetitive impact injuries and failed to disclose, treat or protect him from the dangers of such damage.”

Per the terms of her Massachusetts issued court documents, Shayanna and her daughter are seeking “redress for the loss of parental consortium she has experienced based on the negligent conduct of Defendants that deprived her of the companionship and society of her father, Aaron Hernandez.”

As previously reported on Cheekywiki, on April 19, Aaron—who, in 2015, was convicted and handed a life sentence for the first-degree murder of Odin Lloyd—was found dead inside his single unit jail cell at Massachusetts’ Souza Baranowski Correctional Center.

His apparent suicide came shortly after he’d been found not guilty in a double homicide.

Shayanna says in her lawsuit, “On April 19, 2017, Aaron succumbed to the symptoms of CTE and committed suicide.”
