On Tuesday, in celebration of what would have been the late “Now That We Found Love” crooner’s 49th birthday, long time homie and producer, Gordon Bijelonic, announced that he would be honoring Heavy by making “Crossed”– a police thriller he’d co-written with Avery O. Gordon and planned to star in before his untimely passing in November 2011..
“It’s a way to celebrate the legacy of a great man, and another way for Hev, years after his passing, to continue to take care of his daughter that he loved so much,” Gordon said in a statement, according to Variety.com.

Heavy D's police thriller in he works

Having previously done his thing on the big screen in feature films such as “Life,” “Tower Heist,” “Cider House Rules,” and “Step Up,” the Jamaica born emcee was said to be taking no shorts in preparation for the starring role in his own flick about a street cop who’ll stop at nothing to bring down a drug kingpin…

Heavy–who died of a pulmonary embolism at the age off 44–supposedly, “dropped weight, got buffed, and even starred in a play, all in preparation” for the part, according to Avery who also stated that they held off on production so that the rapper could get himself in physical formation for the movie’s lead man.

The Hip-Hop heavyweight’s 15-year-old daughter, Xea Myers, will executive produce “Crossed.”

“I knew my dad wanted to be a writer and an actor. And I’m so happy this will happen for him now because he deserves it,” she said.

In honor of his birthday, fans and fellow emcees took to Twitter to wish Heavy D a happy birthday.
