HOVA’s Ova??: Drake surpasses Jay-Z as rapper with most top 10 Billboard Hot 100 entries

Blessings, for Drake, are pouring down like manna from heaven, thanks to the otherworldly success of the Canadian crooner’s newest singles, “God’s Plan” and “Diplomatic Immunity,” via his latest project, Scary Hours.

On the heels of breaking streaming records on both Apple and Spotify, Hip-Hop’s 6god now lords over Jay-Z, stealing from him the coveted title of rapper with the most top 10 Billboard Hot 100 entries.

With “God’s Plan” reaching No. 1 status on the charts this week—earning Drizzy his second No. 1 single as a solo artist, following 2016’s “One Dance”—and “Diplomatic Immunity” ranking in at No. 7, OVO’s 31-year-old frontman surpasses HOV’s previously unmatched 21 top ten songs with 22 top charting tracks.

Jay-Z’s being dethroned by the Champagne Papi comes after the Brooklyn native walked out of the 60th annual Grammy Awards empty-handed, losing in all eight of the categories in which he was nominated.

Drake’s most recent accolade makes him the second artist in history to debut two songs in the Top 10 at the same time, according to Billboard.

Ed Sheeran accomplished the feat with his smash hits “Shape Of You” and “Castle On The Hill” in 2017.
