Lil Yachty apologizes for shading the Notorious B.I.G.: “I was in the blind”

After catching hella filth for speaking ill of the late great Notorious B.I.G., it seems rap rookie, Lil Yachty, has had a change of heart concerning his stance on the legendary rap lord who he recently referred to as “overrated.”

A few weeks back, hardcore Hip-Hop heads jumped on social media to digitally yank every last cherry-red colored lock out of the 19-year-old Atlanta native’s head for unapologetically dismissing Biggie’s unmatchable legacy.
While chopping it up with Ebro–one of his biggest critics– on Beats 1 radio, the “Judgement Free,” rhymer revealed that the downpour of shade he received after taking Biggie’s name in vain caused him to give the Brooklyn representative’s music a listen– which ultimately inspired him to retract his messy mention of the man most consider a rap G.O.A.T.

“To this day, I feel like I was wrong for speaking about something like that without taking a second to listen,” Boat said. “Before I said that I was in the blind. I feel like I owe an apology. I didn’t think before I spoke on that topic. I know now how important and just how serious it is to some people. I didn’t want people thinking that I was disrespecting him because it wasn’t a disrespect thing. That’s just my personal opinion.”

The lyrical newcomer– who previously admitted that he wasn’t raised listening to Hip-Hop music– added, “My dad did not play Biggie or Tupac so I had never heard it. I’m not going to sit here and lie and say I just bump him. But I know for a fact he was spittin’.”

Later on in the interview, Yachty popped off a freestyle over the “Flava In Ya Ear,” beat– a track Big infamously slayed alongside Craig Mack and the Bad Boy family back in back in 1994.
