Papa Prerogative: Bobby Brown files $1 million lawsuit over Bobbi Kristina biopic

Every Little Step” singer, Bobby Brown, is taking big legal steps towards permanently DEADING TV One’s upcoming Bobbi Kristina biopic, in which the R&B crooner claims he’s falsely portrayed as a neglectful father and husband.

Via recently filed court documents, the 48-year-old embattled New Edition legend accuses the cable network behind his deceased daughter’s biographical piece of “knowingly and maliciously” using his persona and life in the movie and promotion of the film, according to E!

In addition to allegations the forthcoming made-for-TV movie—slated to air on October 8—suggests Bobby “does not love his daughter [and is not] committed to his daughter,” the Boston native’s Manhattan Federal Court filings charge that the film “contains defamatory and untrue depictions” of him “being violate” towards his late ex-wife, Whitney Houston.

He goes on to allege that producers portray him as a “hard drug user” who faded his fatherly duties to Bobbi Kristina immediately following Whitney’s untimely 2012 death–in which she was also found unconscious in her hotel suite bathtub– and unfairly used information from his 2004 Bravo TV reality show, Being Bobby Brown for their movie, without his consent.

Not only is the “Don’t Be Cruel” creator seeking to stop the airing of Bobbi Kristina’s biopic, but is also gunning for an over $1 million payout in damages.

In reaction to Bobby’s lawsuit, TV One clapped back with a statement, reading: “We are aware of the reported legal challenge by Bobby Brown regarding the film Bobbi Kristina and are taking appropriate steps on behalf of our network to respond. While we are not able to address our legal response at this time, we stand by the film and its representation of this period in Bobbi Kristina’s life.”

As previously reported on Cheekywiki, on July 26, 2015, at only 22-years-old, Bobbi Kristina Brown tragically met her demise six months after being found facedown and unresponsive in the bathtub of her Georgia-based apartment.

In 2016, her allegedly violent boyfriend, Nick Gordon, was found legally responsible for the aspiring actress’ death and ordered to pay $36 million to her estate.
