Prince dominates Billboard charts

In light of his tragic passing, late musical major leaguer, Prince, has skyrocketed to the top of the charts…

While the world continues to mourn the loss of one of the greatest artists of all time, his masterful works, The Very Best of Prince and the Purple Rain soundtrack have locked down the first and second slots on the Billboard 200 album roster this week. 

 
According to Billboard, The Very Best of Prince earned 179,000 equivalent album units, an increase of more than 10,000% from the previous week. The 2001 greatest hits compilation project is now Prince’s 5th #1 album. 

 
As for Purple Rain, the highly acclaimed film score gained more than 3,000% rise with 69,000 units.

 
Likewise, the “When Doves Cry” crooner’s The Hits/The B-Sides climbed up the charts to No.6 with 41,000 moved in the wake of his April 21st death…

 
With the major success of the aforementioned LPs plus another five of his albums re-entering the charts,

Prince’s entire catalog sold 256,000 copies over the week.
