Project Baby Blues: Kodak Black wants charges dismissed; hopes to be released from jail

Kodak Black wants his slate cleared when it comes to the charges stemming from his most recent arrest.

In light of being hemmed up on seven legal infractions—including grand theft of firearm, possession of weed, two counts of felony weapon possession, two counts child neglect, and probation violation—during a police raid of his Florida residence back in January, the 20-year-old “Drowning” rapper is now challenging the validity of charges and demanding to be release from jail.

Kodak’s attorneys recently filed documents, obtained by TheBlast, asking the court to conduct an adversary preliminary hearing to determine whether prosecutors have enough evidence to make his charges stick, and whether they can prove the illicit items found during the police search were truly his.

Since his arrest, the “Tunnel Vision” spitter is said to maintain that the guns and drugs were NOT in his possessions, and highlights the fact that he shared the house with other people.

At an upcoming hearing, his lawyer, Bradford Cohen, will reportedly argue that actual lease of the house isn’t even in Kodak’s name, and note that all the house inhabitants had access to the locations in which the items were found. Thus, the rapper’s team claims prosecutors won’t be able to pin the weapons on him.

According to the publication, the hearing could also include witnesses, video and evidence—some of which was taken inside the house during the raid—in the hopes to prove Kodak’s innocence.

Prosecutors are suspected to likely point to the video that was streamed on social media showing drugs and guns in the home, during the arrest.

As far as the probation violations, Kodak’s squad reportedly believes if all the charges are dropped he should be released.
