Remembering Aaliyah: Hip-Hop and Twitter pay  respects to “Baby Girl”

RIP…

Though it’s been well over a decade since “I Care 4 U” chanteuse, Aaliyah, tragically lost her life in an airplane crash, to family, friends, and fans of the angel-voiced beauty her untimely passing continues to seem unreal…
On August 25, 2001, Aaliyah Dana Haughton and several members of her squad boarded a small twin-engine Cessna 402B plane leaving from the Bahamas.
The passengers–comprised of Aaliyah’s hair stylist, makeup artist, record label employees and more–was traveling from the island of Abaco where the singer gave life to the music video for her smash his record, “Rock The Boat.”

Shortly after their departure, the overloaded aircraft crashed and burst into flames… killing the 22-year-old megastar, her travel companions, and the pilot.

As today marks the 15th anniversary of the R&B boomer’s death, members of the Hip-Hop community and the general public have taken to social media to pay homage to the life and legacy of the “One In A Million” vocalist–affectionately nicknamed “Baby Girl” by her loved ones.
