Russell Simmons announces All Def Movie Awards

DEF JAMMIES…

OH YASSSS…

SO PEEP…
This week , the 58-year-old Hip-Hop mogul and his team announced that the upcoming award show–slated to take place on Feb. 24 at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood — is response to a “stunning lack of diversity” in Hollywood.

In a statement, Uncle Russ spilled, “[ADMAs] are not the Black Oscars, but they could be. This will be a fun, entertaining and hopefully thought provoking celebration of the uncelebrated.”
According to reports, the All Def Movie Awards will feature a black carpet, live musical performance, and a consistent stream of video content on social media.
LIT…
And staying true to theme, black movies such as Beasts of No Nation, Chi-raq, Concussion, Creed, Dope and Straight Outta Compton will all compete for best picture.
Tony Rock will host the inaugural All Def Movie Awards just days before his brother, Chris Rock, serves as master of ceremonies at the Oscars (set to air on Feb 28…but we probably ain’t watching that sh**).
