Someone Please Call 911: Wyclef Jean wrongfully detained by LAPD

Wyclef Jean is currently calling 911 on the cops after officers from the Los Angeles Police Department wrongfully handcuffed him in a case of mistaken identity…

Today, the 47-year-old Haitian Hip-Hop heavyweight took to social media with a short clip of himself being detained by police who believed he was the armed assailant who robbed a gas station near his North Hollywood recording studio.

“LAPD another case of mistaken identity. Black man with red bandana robbed a gas station as I was in the studio working but im in handcuffs?” Clef captioned the footage of him being cuffed up against a car…

Members of the LAPD were allegedly on the hunt for an armed suspect who robbed a person at gunpoint and stole their wallet about 1 a.m. at a West Hollywood gas station.

According to The New York Daily News, the victim provided the boys in blue with a description of the thief and his vehicle…. and officers spotted Jean’s vehicle, which fit the description of the robber’s…

“Jean not only had a similar appearance to the suspect, but he also had a red bandana like the suspect,” Sgt. Walker spilled.

And while the authorities claim to have “immediately released” the “Two Wrongs” rapper following his brief detainment, Wyclef took to Twitter stating that he was cuffed before being given the opportunity to identify himself..

“I was asked by the police to put my hands up,” he tweeted on Tuesday morning. “Then I was told do not move. I was instantly hand cuffed before being asked to identify myself. Nor was I told why I was being cuffed. In the process I said my name and told them they have wrong person.”
The rap lord went on to express his disappointment with the law enforcement and shamed them for treating him “like a criminal.”

“I was appalled by this behavior of the LAPD,” he added.

Wyclef’s artist, T-Baby, was with him at the time of his messy run-in with the cops..

“… I hear there’s police with guns and he’s in handcuffs for ‘mistaken identity’ because he’s black and wearing a ‘bandana’ aka a Haitian flag,” T-Baby told the Daily News. “This story is sad and redundant. When did guns and handcuffs become a perquisite (sic) of questioning?”
