Uncle Rush Slowing Down: Russell Simmons presses pause on his #NotMe movement

Russell Simmons is temporarily pulling out of his #NotMe campaign, in effort to let sexual assault victims have the uninterrupted space to voice their truths.

After being accused of sexual misconduct and rape by 13 women, throughout November and December, the former Def Jam head honcho publicly launched a movement in effort to prove his innocence..

“Today, I begin to properly defend myself. I will prove without any doubt that I am innocent of all rape charges. Today, I will focus on ‘The Original Sin’ [referring to model Keri Claussen Khalighi, who accused him in the LA Times of rape], the claim that created this insane pile on of my #MeToo,” Russell said in a social media post.

However, he hasn’t made any statements under the hashtag in over a month

Representatives for the Hip-Hop mogul announced he’s chosen to postpone his #NotMe crusade after realizing, “that this is a time for women to speak.”

As previously reported on Cheekywiki, Russell voluntarily submitted to a polygraph test in effort to reduce his culpability against his many sexual assault allegations. He reportedly past the test with flying colors.

So far, Russell Simmons has yet to openly discussed his decision to press pause on his #NotMe swag.
